Jovanna was born in Gallup, NM and comes from a family of exceptional Zuni jewelers and carvers. Her grandfather was Leo Poblano. Veronica Poblano, a contemporary jewelry master, is her mother. Jovanna’s brother Dylan, is known for fabricating complex structural pieces of jewelry that are eagerly collected.
Jovanna and her husband Daniel Chattin, make their home in Zuni Pueblo with their two sons, Frankie and Leo. Daniel often collaborates with Jovanna when she creates her wonderful one-of-a-kind necklaces. If the piece features a carved maiden or possibly birds, the carving is Daniel’s contribution.
She taught herself the finely constructed beadwork featured in her pieces.
